The historic Aspendos Bridge is very close to the ancient city of Aspendos. This is the Serik area in Antalya. The bridge is built on the waters flowing from the Taurus Mountains. The Aspendos Bridge connects both sides of the Kopruchay River.
The historic bridge, 225 meters long, is closed to traffic. The width of the bridge ranges from 3.5 to 6.5 meters. The bridge has 9 round arches. The inscription on the bridge is 6 meters long.
The bridge was built during the Roman period at the beginning of the 4th century AD. The Roman version was destroyed by an earthquake. The new bridge was built by the Seljuks in the 13th century on the ruins of the old bridge. For the construction were used the stones left over from the construction of the ancient city of Aspendos.
The bridge was restored in 2003.
How to get to Aspendos Bridge
From the bus station there are buses to the city of Serik. The distance of Antalya Serik is 50 kilometers.
