Dim Alanya cave. The territory of Alanya is famous for the variety of caves, but each of them is unique in its own way. All of them attract the attention of world scientists with their wall paintings and scientific data. The caves are the best sights in Turkey. Since ancient times, Dim Cave has been used by people as a shelter and shelter for goats. Since 1986, the cave has been explored for a long time. Only in 1998 was it opened to the public. Dim Cave is located in a very hard and thick layer of gray-dark gray limestone. This is a natural karst cave. Dim Cave is 360 m long and 15 m wide. It is one of the longest caves in Turkey. There are four separate halls inside the cave: the First Hall, the Organ Hall, the Pamukkale Hall and the Lake Hall. All these halls are composed of stalactites and stalagmites.

 

The interior of Dim Cave is covered with varied and rich dripstone formations. Stalactites and stalagmites seem to be a special decoration, absorbing all the beauty of nature. The development of the cave continues to this day. At the end of the cave there is a small lake with a water surface of 200 m², 17 m deep from the entrance. The reason for the accumulation of water in this section is that the bottom of the lake is composed of impermeable shale.

Dim Cave is lit by city electricity and equipped with a comfortable walking platform. Thanks to this, you can easily move forward. The stairs lead deep down, so going back will be a little difficult. An amazing acoustics is created inside. Throughout the year, the temperature is stable at 18 degrees, which is quite cool. Therefore, it is necessary to take warm clothes. Humidity 90 percent. You can hear how water flows from the walls of the cave. In some places you can see a small frost on the steps and numerous puddles. To see the whole cave you need to spend an hour.

The cave is located at the top of the Dim Valley. During this walk you can enjoy magnificent views of the area, which is rich in coniferous forest. Opening hours change due to the influx of tourists and the sunset, because it is quite difficult to get to the cave in the dark.

In summer, Dim Cave is open: 09-19: 00

Tourists are allowed into the cave 30 minutes before closing time.

How to get there

Dim Cave is located 145 km from Antalya and 11 km from Alanya. If you go on foot, you need to take a bus to the university number 101, but then you will have to walk 4 km. Going by car is not difficult. In the navigator, you need to type Dim Mağarası. There is a convenient parking lot in front of the entrance. Many tourists buy a tour in advance from the guides if it is not possible to rent a car.

What to see nearby

The Dim Chai River is located in the Dim Valley. Various restaurants are located along the river. The tables are installed on water rafts. You have the opportunity to sit in the very center of the river. There are many fish swimming in the fresh waters of the river. Local restaurateurs lure visitors by offering to fish and then taste their catch. Dim Cave is at a distance of 5 km.
