What to know before you go

Sapadere Canyon Alanya is a real paradise on Earth. An alluring corner of pristine nature is a mountain gorge with gorgeous waterfalls. High, steep cliffs are surrounded by small bodies of water filled with emerald water. If you are resting in Alanya and do not know what to see in Turkey, then go to this place.

Before a walk, you need to rest, gaining strength, because a magnificent 360-meter nature awaits us, which passes between the steep cliffs of the Taurus Mountains. Our path begins with a brick path, then we move along a pedestrian platform made of wood and steel, enjoying the natural beauty of nature. Fresh mountain air will accompany you throughout the excursion.

Along the Sapadere canyon, you can see beautiful trees that rise from the seething river. The waterfalls are mesmerizing with their beauty, which you can look at endlessly. If you feel the urge to cool off, immerse yourself in ice-cold water. A staircase leads down into the natural reservoir, which descends from the platform. There are depth plates here. The sounds of water that call you to calmness form an orchestra. Looking up, its magnificence makes your head spin. The height of the canyon reaches 400 meters

The history of the Sapadere canyon

The Sapadere Canyon was organized in 2008 at the initiative of the Prefect of Alanya and Mukhtar of the village of Sapadere as a result of the work of the Alanya Forestry Department. Over the years, the canyon, formed by flowing water, strong winds and the movements of the Earth, has caused many natural formations. Now the Sapadere Canyon is considered the best attraction in Turkey.

How to get to Sapadere canyon

Sapadere Canyon is located 45 km from Alanya, in the village of Sapadere. The road is as impressive as the canyon itself and has mesmerizing landscapes. If you decide to get there on foot, there are no scheduled flights. The nearest settlement – Demirtas Resort is located 15 km from the canyon, from where you can walk to the place. If you have a car, then you need to go along the main highway to Mersin. After passing the village, follow the country road using the signs. Be careful, the mountain roads are very narrow and winding.

What you need to know

Many people come in the summer, so fall is a better time to visit.
Don’t forget to bring your swimsuit, towel, extra clothes, rubber shoes, photography equipment, sunglasses, waterproof camera, hat.
If you want to swim in an icy mountain river, the water temperature is very cold 12 degrees.
