Skiing at Saklıkent

Although lots of tourists come to Antalya even in the winter, most go to Bakırlı Dağı, the almost 2,550-meter-high “Copper Mountain”. So, Saklıkent ends up being exactly what its name promises, the “hidden city”. During the week, the slopes here are often deserted and even on the weekends, there is usually no big rush.

The winter sports area in the the village of Saklikent is located at an altitude of 1,850 to 2,547 m in the Taurus Mountains. The ski center consists of a ski area with hotels and 3 ski lifts, including a 1,400 m chair lift. There are currently 10 km of slopes available.

The season begins in mid-December and lasts until the end of March or beginning of April. On average, the snow depth is 100-200 centimeters, in the coldest months it can reach up to 4 meters.

Slopes at Saklıkent Ski Resort

The total 10 kilometers of slopes at Saklıkent are half easy slopes, including 5 kilometers that are well suited for beginners. Of the remaining 5 kilometers, about 30 % are classified as medium difficulty, and the remaining 2 kilometers are considered difficult. The slopes are groomed and off-piste skiing is not permitted. Opportunities for powder skiing are very limited.

Red Slope: This slope is about 4,000 meters long and is suitable for professional skiers. It starts at the top of the mountain, to which the chairlift leads. It has steep slopes as well as hard turns.
Black slope: The slope starts in the middle of the mountain at the intermediate station and is 1,500 meters long in total. Its upper part is connected with the red slope. There are no curves, but the slope is very steep.
Blue slope: This slope is 1,500 meters long and can be reached by the Saklıbel lift. It’s used by skiers and snowboarders. It has a gentle slope and is usually used for training without turning into a professional slope.
Yellow slope: The baby lift leads to the yellow slope, which is 300 meters long and is used for training and educational purposes.
Bobsleigh slope: The slope next to the chairlift is reserved for sledders. It may only be used with sleds rented at the facility.

Charilifts and T-Bar-Skilifts

There are a total of three lifts in Saklıkent. The total lift distance is 2,200 meters and a total of up to 1,300 people per hour can be transported.

Karakaya: The 2-person chairlift runs from the base station at 1,900 meters to the summit at 2,400 meters. The lift distance is 1,400 meters.
Saklıbel: Saklıbel is a T-bar lift that starts at an altitude of 1,850 meters and transports guests to an altitude of 2,100 meters. The lift length is 645 meters.
Babylift: Like all the other lifts, the Babylift starts at an altitude of 1,850 meters. With a lift length of 200 meters, guests are transported a total of 50 meters upwards, the lift stops at an altitude of 1,900 meters.

Après-Ski at Saklıkent

There are two mountain huts in Saklıkent. One is located at the top of the mountain and the other at the intermediate station at 1,900 meters above sea level, where the lifts begin. You will not find hunter's tea here, but there are snacks are offered, as well as coffee, tea, and salep, a hot, sweet milk drink flavored with cinnamon. Salep is made from orchid roots.

Alcohol is served in the hotels in the ski area, but the typical après-ski is not found here. After skiing, you can walk in the snow, and then in the evening enjoy the live music in the hotel.

How to Get to Saklıkent

The Saklıkent Ski Center is located about 35 kilometers from Antalya's city center. There is a shuttle service on weekends that leaves from in front of the Migros 5M at 8:00 in the morning and drops you back off there at 16:00 in the evening.

If you are traveling with your own car, on the road towards Çakırlar / Doyran, the turnoff to Saklıkent is marked. Usually the road is well cleared, but it's obligatory to drive with winter tires and carry snow chains. Parking is available on the mountain. Saklıkent can be reached from Antalya in about an hour. Hotels in Saklıkent

The ski resort in Saklıkent consists of a total of 500 mountain houses and cottages, which all have a cozy flair. You won't find a large ski hotel here. If you want to stay overnight, there are numerous guesthouses available.

Since Antalya is only an hour away, many guests prefer to stay overnight in Antalya and come to Saklıkent only for skiing. Saklıkent Mountain Resort Hotel opened in 2020 and has 32 rooms. Bed and breakfast is offered. Lunch and dinner are available a la carte.
