Antalya Zoo

What to know before you go

Founded in 1989, Antalya Zoo is considered one of the most successful zoos in Turkey. The zoo offers a spacious and natural environment that ensures the well-being of its animals. The park’s layout, with its natural water sources and small waterfalls, creates an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a real animal habitat.

Situated within the Kepezalti picnic area, the zoo provides an excellent opportunity for a full day out. You can enjoy a meal in the picnic area, and there are benches with tables scattered throughout the zoo for relaxation. Be sure to pack some snacks for a perfect day in nature. Children will love spending time here, enjoying the playgrounds with swings and slides while surrounded by wildlife.

Antalya Zoo is divided into eight distinct sections, each designed to provide an optimal environment for the various species that call it home. The zoo’s layout ensures that animals are housed in spaces that reflect their natural habitats, offering comfort and care suited to each species.

Reptile House
The reptile house features two sections—one for winter (350 m²) and one for summer (300 m²). It is home to a variety of reptiles, with the winter area equipped with heated floors to accommodate snakes and crocodiles.

Artiodactyls
This section caters to both summer and winter conditions and houses various herbivorous animals, including red deer, sika deer, roe deer, gazelles, wild sheep, camels, and mountain goats.

Equids
Equids are housed in environments tailored to both summer and winter, with areas that reflect their natural habitats. The section is home to donkeys, ponies, halflingers, zebras, and other similar species.

Predators
The predator section also includes areas designed for both summer and winter. It is home to formidable species such as tigers, cougars, lions, and bears, all housed in environments that resemble their natural habitats.

Birds of Prey
Located at the top of the zoo, this section features nests built into stone cavities and caves. It houses 12 birds from four different species of birds of prey.

Pheasants
This section is dedicated to pheasants, with 12 species living in an area that mimics their natural living conditions.

Chickens
Here, nine species of chickens are kept in shelters, each covering an area of 20 m², providing ample space for the birds to roam.

Rabbits
The rabbit section consists of several 12 m² enclosures, each home to four different species of rabbits, providing them with a comfortable living space.
